Our Goals

The Screven Elementary School Media Center's primary goal is to collaborate with teachers to create a learning environment that motivates all of our students to become independent learners.  We are working hard to make our Media Center the learning hub of our school, where all students feel comfortable coming and finding information about their curriculum and individual interests. 

The Media Center has several new programs to encourage our students to read. We have implemented golden tickets for students who score 100 on an AR test. Students write their names on the golden tickets and enter a drawing each Friday for a free ice cream pass. All students who enter the drawing can eat lunch outside if the weather permits.

Students in grades 2-5 are encouraged to participate in Book Bingo. Book Bingo will last until the end of each month. Students who complete each block of their bingo card will earn $2.00 for use in our school pencil store.

The Buccaneers' Book Nook

Our school pencil store is now open each morning from 7:30-8:00 and 2:15-2:50 each afternoon. Our pencil store offers pens, pencils, highlighters, notepads, erasers, and stickers. Prices range from $0.10 to $1.00. All proceeds will go to purchasing new books and supplies in the Media Center.
