The goal of the Migrant Education Program is to ensure that all migrant students reach challenging academic standards and graduate with a high school diploma (or complete a GED) that prepares them for responsible citizenship, further learning, and productive employment.

Our Migrant Student Support Providers (MSSPs) perform a wide variety of duties to ensure that migrant students achieve academic success and the needs of migrant families are met:

  • Performing daily in-school tutoring to assist students in mastering academic standards as well as English language acquisition as needed;

  • Conducting frequent Identification and Recruitment to bring new families into the WCSS migrant program;

  • Coordinating three Parent Advisory Council (PAC) meetings each school year;

  • Hosting parent workshops based on parents' needs;

  • Working with out-of-school youth whose work schedules do not allow them to attend school during traditional hours;

  • Working with children in the Early Learning Program as young as three years old to teach them basic skills such as number recognition, ABCs, and colors;

  • Accompanying truancy officers during home visits to serve as interpreters for Hispanic families;

  • Serving as interpreters/translators as needed;

  • Assisting new Hispanic families during the school enrollment process;

  • Serving as the liaison between the school and Hispanic families.
